Aside from the important process of trying to grow your business and managing the seemingly never-ending list day to day tasks, as a business owner you also become a tax collector for the government.
As if running the business and trying to make a profit wasn’t enough . . . you have to collect and pay GST on behalf of the government, complete monthly/quarterly business activity statements, submit tax returns, fringe benefit tax returns, superannuation and payroll returns etc. To do all of this, you also need to maintain your records, reconcile your bank accounts and produce financial statements and more . . . the list goes on and on.
This is the bare minimum that you HAVE to do when running a business, just to keep yourself out of trouble.
